Certification FAQs
- Are StorageCare Partner certifications open to everyone?
- All students may enroll in those classes that are available at their campus. Not all courses are available on all campuses, though. Check the course list for your campus first.
- If I've taken the certification for one product and now want a second, do I have to take all of the common courses again?
- No. Once a common course has been taken it will count towards all future certifications.
- What is a "Capstone"?
- From the definition "a stone that forms the top of a wall or building", it is often used to mean "a final touch; a crowning achievement; a culmination". Registering for a certification capstone indicates you have completed all requirements and are requesting a certification certificate from Quantum.
- Can I enroll in the capstone course right away?
- Only if you have taken all of the required courses first. Student enrolling in their required courses at the same time as the capstone course will be able to take their normal courses, but the capstone will be deferred. Once the required courses are completed they will need to re-enroll in the capstone.
- Where can I find the list of required courses?
- http://www.quantum.com/ServiceandSupport/Education/, under the "StorageCare Partner Certifications" section.
- Why don't you offer a certification for course xxx?
- A certification may not be offered for a specific product due to either no course material existing for it or Quantum has decided not to offer it.
- How long is my certification good for?
- Certifications are updated from time to time. For example, the PX720 certifications will be valid until a new version of the library is released which will supersede the current release. At that time the capstone course will be retired and a new capstone released. Certifications will also be retired when a new offering is added to the product family. Notifications will be sent out accordingly.
- Can I take an "Installation" and "Operator" certification for the same product line?
- Yes, but it would be redundant. Higher certifications cover everything lower ones do, that is, "Break / Fix" covers everything "Installation" does and more, "Installation" covers everything "First Call" does and more, etc. It is not necessary to take "Operator" if your goal is "Installation".
- I was enrolled in course ### but can't find it anymore.
- The courses have been renumbered to provide better grouping and growth capabilities. Please see the cross-reference for the new numbers.
